Catholic School Council

Ontario Regulation 612/00 confirms the advisory role of school councils and clearly states that their purpose is to improve student achievement and enhance the accountability of the education system to parents. This regulation also clarifies the role of school councils and establishes their right to express their views on any issues that are important to them.

The Catholic School Council is an important organization for guardians/parents in the community. Saint Joan of Arc C.H.S has a very active school council and we encourage all parents to consider their involvement in the council. The fundamental purpose of a school council is to achieve this purpose:

  • To foster participation by parents and partnerships with community groups
  • To be involved in plans to improve the school
  • To influence decisions made by principals, school boards and the Ministry of Education and Training
