This year, the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) will be offering the computer-based online OSSLT to eligible students across the province. OSSLT results do not count toward students’ grades, but successful completion of the test is one of the requirements to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
The Ministry of Education has waived the literacy graduation requirement for all Grade 12 students graduating during the 2021-2022 school year.
Information regarding the test dates has now been revised:
Students in Grade 11 and non-graduating Grade 12 students will now be completing the test on Monday, March 28 2022, and Tuesday, March 29 2022.
Grade 10 students will be completing the test on Wednesday, March 30 2022, and Thursday, March 31 2022.
Students who are in the OSSLT writing groups and who are learning remotely this year will be invited to complete the test on the aforementioned dates. Remote students must come to the school to complete the test as it must be completed on YCDSB premises.
Supports will be available for students who do not pass the Literacy Test, including an opportunity to rewrite the test or to enroll in the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course (OSSLC).
