We are Back and Couldn’t Be Happier!

The 2021/2022 school year is off to a very exciting start. Priding ourselves in being an active, vibrant, and inclusive physical education department, we have much to celebrate early this year. At the forefront of those celebrations is in-person learning and the beauty of the school community. We are so happy to be back!

 Fall Athletics

It is with great pride and joy that to announce once again that student-athletes are able to channel their athletic abilities in multiple outlets, which meets their physically active spirit.  This fall, boys soccer, tennis, golf, swimming, and cross country were offered at our school. Both our junior and senior boys soccer teams had great success this fall.  Unfortunately, the junior boys just fell short of a tier 1 banner, losing to Brother Andre in the finals. Well done boys!  Athletics are a great forum to build relationships, form community, all while modeling healthy active living. If you are looking for a way to get involved with our school community, athletics is a great way to do so!

 Physical Education Department

Well into our in-depth and fast-paced curriculum, our goal as a physical education department is to engage students in physical activity, with a focus on instilling lifelong healthy active living. Currently, all of our students have been challenged with standardized pre-fitness testing. Pre-fitness testing provides numeric data, which is tailored to each student’s current physical fitness levels. Linked with our grades 9 and 10 CPT’s, it is a combined effort and goal of both our students and teachers alike to improve upon our fitness testing scores by the semester’s end. We can’t wait to see the results!

In addition to our pre and post fitness testing, physical education students will be engaged in a variety of activities, which promote healthy active living.  Such activities are all focused on health and safety and follow all COVID-19 protocols.  Even with such modifications, our students are healthy, active, and having plenty of fun.

 Looking Forward

As one season will come to an end, another one will begin. Winter sports have begun and junior and senior girls volleyball teams are set to tackle the YRAA.  @SJA_Thunder on Twitter and sja_thunder_atheltics on Instagram is your source for everything athletics at Saint Joan of Arc, so please follow for up-to-date news and information.
